Services Provided Include:
The Futures and CHOICE programs provide special education services for children identified with an emotional or behavioral disorder
(EB/D). It also serves students with milder autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Students from ZED member districts who need special education
services at a separate site receive individualized instruction through an Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Instructional areas include
social learning, communication skills and academics.
Students enrolled in the Futures and CHOICE programs may also receive related services including school counseling, speech
and language, and/or occupational therapy. Transition planning is available that aids students in returning to their general
education setting or continuing on from graduation to post-secondary options. Collaboration with community social service and
mental health agencies is integrated into the student IEPs.

Connections Program
Services Provided Include:
The Connections program assists to develop, enhance, and achieve the most appropriate level of behavioral functioning for the
student within his/her own community. The program is designed to address the needs of students with more serious autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
Students in the Connections program have experienced significant difficulty in the general education environment
and require unique programming in order to meet graduation requirements and to ultimately be as effective and successful
as possible in their home communities during and after their school career.
Curriculum and instruction in the Connections program is focused on improving social skills and interpersonal communication,
while continuing academic subject matter. Programming also focuses on developing the students’ self-advocacy and
self-awareness skills, as well as their post-secondary transition skills.
