Home Page -->> Vision Impaired Vision Impaired Direct Services Provided Include: Assess Vision Impaired (VI) student's functional vision and determine educational needs relative to vision. Teach student specialized skills necessary for functioning independently in school and in life. Teach alternative methods for receiving and producing visual materials i.e. Braille, large print, listening skills, etc. Keep student knowledgeable, proficient and current with variety of specialized technology needed to be functional in school and daily life. Help student learn to use his/her residual vision efficiently. Teach daily living and social skills unique to their individual needs. Vision Impaired Staff Orientation and Mobility Services Provided Include: Assess skills necessary to move about their environment independently. Teach skill to travel independently in a variety of settings, including the home, school, work, public buildings, etc. Teach skills to use public transportation independently.
