Vision Impaired

Direct Services Provided Include:

• Assess Vision Impaired (VI) student's functional vision and determine educational needs relative to vision.
• Teach student specialized skills necessary for functioning independently in school and in life.
• Teach alternative methods for receiving and producing visual materials i.e. Braille, large print, listening skills, etc.
• Keep student knowledgeable, proficient and current with variety of specialized technology needed to be functional in school and daily life.
• Help student learn to use his/her residual vision efficiently.
• Teach daily living and social skills unique to their individual needs.

Orientation and Mobility

Services Provided Include:

• Assess skills necessary to move about their environment independently.
• Teach skill to travel independently in a variety of settings, including the home, school, work, public buildings, etc.
• Teach skills to use public transportation independently.
