ZED Summer Academy is a one-week half-day summer opportunity for gifted and talented students who have completed grades 3-6. Students must be recommended by staff from their local districts in order to attend.
Scholarships
ZED would like to make the Summer Academy program available to those students who meet the eligibility criteria and also have a financial need to be able to attend. Scholarship application forms are included in the Summer Academy Booklet sent to eligible students. We use information from the 2025-2026 Application for Educational Benefits to determine eligibility. If you intend to apply for a scholarship but haven't completed the 2025-2026 Application for Education Benefits, contact your school or district office to find out how to complete the application.
Interested in being a Student Helper?
Each instructor will have a student to assist them with their class. Students applying to work as a Helper for the ZED Summer Academy must be 14 years of age or older by the start of Summer Academy to be considered. Student Helpers will be paid an hourly wage for the week. The application deadline and notification date is to be announced. If interested in applying, complete the online form and click ‘Submit’. If you have not been requested by a ZED Summer Academy Instructor, you will also need to send a letter of reference written by a person, other than a relative, to the ZED District Office. The letter of reference can be mailed to: Zumbro Education District, Student Helper, 2002 N Mantorville Ave, Kasson, MN 55944. You can also email the letter of reference as an attachment to bhuemoeller@zumbroed.org.
